Why Choose Ocean Explorer
Ocean Explorer is the perfect choice for travellers seeking a small ship expedition in the polar regions. With just 138 guests, the ship delivers epic adventures in an intimate group setting.
Ocean Explorer is purpose-built as an expedition ship. Its 1A *PC6(ice-strengthened hull) and long-range allow it to explore the most remote corners of the planet.
We particularly like the comfort and intimacy of this ship. It has many of the features of larger expedition ships, such as a sauna, fitness centre, and on-deck hot pools, but in a more compact size. This allows guests to spend more time off the ship exploring.
Launched in 2021, Ocean Explorer has a beautiful Scandinavian interior. This ship’s overall design and quality stand out to us. A large observation lounge on the top deck with a bar is the perfect place to take in the views.
The ship is equipped with 15 Zodiacs, allowing all guests to join off-ship activities simultaneously.
Dining on Ocean Explorer
Ocean Explorer has one main dining room that seats all guests simultaneously and one private dining room that can accommodate up to 36 guests.
The dining room features floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing you to take in the epic views as you enjoy your meal. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style, with an a la carte menu at dinner time.
The Latitude Bar is located on deck 5 and offers the perfect place to enjoy post-dinner drinks or cocktails with friends.
Cabins on Ocean Explorer
Ocean Explorer has 57 cabins across eight cabin categories for 138 guests. Most cabins feature private balconies, and all face the ocean. Solo cabins, double/twin cabins, and some cabins also have a sofa bed to accommodate an extra guest are available. At the top end the Owners Suite has a large private veranda and large master bedroom.
Each cabin is well thought out and has ample space for a small ship. It is decorated in a modern, calm style and is perfect for resting after a long day exploring the polar regions.
Each cabin features a private bathroom and shower with heated floors, an infotainment system, and seating with a desk and chair.
Onboard Experience
When you step onboard Ocean Explorer, you can really feel this ship has been built around the experience. The ship has excellent viewing areas perfect for wildlife watching, including the observation lounge and 360 decks on deck 8, and the two-story library with windows in the bow of the ship. The ship has an open bridge policy, and guests can view the ship’s navigation firsthand.
Ocean Explorer features a large lecture lounge that can seat all guests. Here, briefings, lecturers, and presentations from the team of onboard guides and naturalists take place.
On the upper decks, there are two jacuzzis to take in the views as you sail through the polar regions, which is the perfect end to a day of exploration. A well-equipped fitness centre with treadmills, elliptical machines, and floor-to-ceiling windows is one of the best on a small ship.
Ocean Explorer features complimentary wifi so you can stay connected throughout your cruise.
There is an onboard clinic available 24 hours a day.
