Why Choose MS Fridtjof Nansen?
The MS Fridtjof Nansen is a purpose-built polar ‘class 6’ next-generation expedition ship equipped for challenging environments with top-notch safety, stability, and crew. The ship is one of two near identical twin custom built ships which features an ice-strengthened hull and a wave-piercing bulbous bow.
Every expedition cruise includes a hand-picked team of specialists to guide and educate guests during their voyages. With a team of expert guides, naturalists and photographers, you’ll experience landings by zodiacs, hikes, wildlife sightings and lectures.
The interiors of MS Fridtjof Nansen are crafted from natural Scandinavian materials such as granite, oak, birch, and wool. Expect sleek, Scandinavian design with panoramic lounges, an elegant explorer lounge, large windows and a relaxed, stylish atmosphere. Every cabin is an outside cabin, and many have private balconies or large windows so you can take in the views.
The observation decks are designed for guests to enjoy views of the Antarctic scenery and wildlife.
MS Fridtjof Nansen can carry up to 530 passengers, but it is limited to 500 passengers for Antarctic cruises. You’ll have a more personal and immersive expedition than on a big-ship, non-landing cruise ship.
The ship’s design means passengers are divided into manageable groups for excursions, typically around 100 per group, to ensure safety and enhance the experience.
MS Fridtjof Nansen has a hybrid-powered system with large battery packs and a shore power connection.
Dining On MS Fridtjof Nansen
The ship has three restaurants offering various dining options inspired by Norwegian and international cuisine.
Aune serves regionally inspired meals made with fresh, local ingredients in a relaxed, social dining space. Lunchtime buffets and A-la-carte are available in the evening, and the menu changes every night.
Lindstrøm offers an elevated experience with fine dining options with a Scandinavian twist and a curated wine list. It must be booked in advance.
Fredheim serves global comfort food and casual favourites like burgers and tacos in a cosy, modern space.
From Arctic delicacies to international bites, every dish is thoughtfully prepared to complement your journey to some of the world’s most remote destinations.
Room service is also available from Fredheim Restaurant throughout the day.
